- Job Title: Surgical Services Nurse Consultant

- About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Surgical Services Nurse Consultant to assist a rural hospital in launching a new surgical services unit. This role is vital in establishing operating rooms, pre-op, and PACU areas, as well as overseeing the Central Sterile Processing (CSP) process. As the Surgical Services Nurse Consultant , you will provide expert guidance in clinical and administrative operations, including developing patient care programs, improving clinical competencies, and ensuring operational efficiency. - Key Responsibilities: Clinical and Operational Oversight Develop and implement patient care programs that enhance clinical competencies, safety protocols, and surgical quality improvement initiatives. Provide direct patient care expertise in the operating room (OR), pre-operative, and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) settings. Help implement the Central Sterile Processing (CSP) process to ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Evaluate and analyze patient care processes to enhance outcomes and improve service delivery. Collaborate with healthcare teams to maintain a culture of safety and clinical excellence. Education and Mentorship Conduct training sessions for nursing and clinical staff to build competencies in perioperative care. Mentor staff to foster professional development and support continuous improvement in clinical quality. Stay informed on current trends in nursing and surgical services to ensure evidence-based practices. Administrative Leadership Assist facility leadership in establishing budgets, staffing plans, and operational workflows for the new surgical services unit. Collaborate with physicians and hospital leadership to ensure seamless coordination and efficient operation of the surgical department. Develop and implement patient care policies and procedures aligned with regulatory and organizational standards. Support supply chain management to ensure appropriate resources are available for surgical services. Review medical documentation to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and accuracy of records.
- Qualifications: Active RN license with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in surgical/OR nursing. Prior experience in Central Sterile Processing (CSP) oversight is required . Demonstrated expertise in perioperative services, including OR, pre-op, and PACU care. Strong leadership and mentoring skills with a focus on education and continuous improvement. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and physicians. Knowledge of budgeting, staff scheduling, and supply chain management in surgical services. Familiarity with regulatory standards, including HIPAA and surgical quality metrics.
- Preferred Experience: Experience in rural or Indigenous healthcare settings. Background in launching or managing new surgical units. Knowledge of operational workflows in remote consulting environments.
