Registered Dietitian
Specialty: Nutrition and Dietetics
Job Summary: The Registered Dietitian (RD) is responsible for Medical Nutrition Therapy services. The RD is responsible for nutrition consultations provided for Tribal programs. The RD will facilitate close collaboration between health promotion and disease prevention wellness programing.

Schedule: Full-time, Exempt status. Flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
Patient Demographics: Primarily serving Alaska Native/American Indian people, including patients at the DWC, children at the Early Childhood Center, and Elders at the Tyotkas Elders Center.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with coursework approved by the American Dietetic Association's (ADA) Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education
- Completion of an accredited, supervised practice program at a healthcare facility, community agency, or foodservice corporation
- Three years of experience as a Registered Dietitian
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent interpersonal communication, public speaking, and presentation skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
Licensure:
- Licensed Dietitian (LD) by the State of Alaska
- Valid Alaska State Driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy
Certifications:
- Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Certified Food Protection Manager (or obtain within six months of hire)
- CPR/First Aid certification (or obtain within three months of hire)
Responsibilities:
- Provide medical nutrition therapy, counseling, and care plans for patients.
- Collaborate with providers and integrated care teams to identify nutritional needs.
- Participate in group visits for patients, families, and staff.
- Collaborate with the Early Childhood Center for nutritional assessments and counseling.
- Work with the Tyotkas Elders Center on nutritional guidelines for lunch menus.
- Participate in accreditation, quality assurance, and project improvement activities.
- Develop procedures and training for safe food handling.
- Participate in traditional seasonal activities, including harvesting, preparation, and presentation of traditional foods.
Support Staff: The Registered Dietitian works as part of an integrated care team, collaborating with other healthcare professionals and tribal program staff.
