Job Summary: The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing physical therapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and implementation, staff consultation, and group visit participation. Assist customers who have injury, illness, or de-conditioned state to improve their movement, manage their pain, and contribute to their overall wellness employing a variety of treatment modalities. Direction of the Physical Therapy Assistant in implementing physical therapy treatment plans, and collaborates with Fitness staff with the goal of preventing loss of mobility by developing fitness- and wellness-oriented programs to encourage healthier choices and more active lifestyles.

Setting: Tribal health facility
Patient Demographics: Primarily serving Alaska Native/American Indian people, with a focus on cultural sensitivity.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum of a Master's of Physical Therapy degree
- Minimum of two years' experience in physical therapy evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment
- Experience with computerized management information systems
- Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR, Part 2 regulations
- Ability to provide courteous, collaborative, and culturally-honoring service
- CPR and AED certification
Licensure:
- Licensed as a Physical Therapist in Alaska or obtain within three months of hire.
- Valid Alaska State driver's license (or obtain within 90 days of hire, with some exceptions).
Certifications: CPR and AED certification required.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and interpret evaluations to determine physical therapy treatment plans.
- Prescribe and supervise therapeutic treatment modalities.
- Obtain patient informed consent for interventions.
- Advise Fitness personnel on individual treatment plans.
- Develop and conduct in-service training programs.
- Utilize electronic health records for documentation.
- Provide patient-centered action planning using motivational interviewing principles.
- Maintain professional knowledge through continuing education.
- Participate in care team training and learning activities.
- Contribute to fitness- and wellness-oriented program planning.
- Maintain personal wellness as a role model.
Support Staff: Works with Physical Therapy Assistants, Fitness staff, and collaborates with an integrated care team.
