SITE OF SERVICE:
- Branch Health/Medical Clinics (BHCs) and TRICARE Prime Clinics (TPCs) associated with Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA.
- Clinic locations include Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Suffolk, Chesapeake, and Yorktown, VA.
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
- Education/Degree: Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate & be a graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by (one of the following):
- Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
- The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists
- Formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces
- Formal program approved by the MTF
- Experience: Possess a minimum of one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant within the last three (3) years all ages.
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) hands on certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Additional Requirements: Provide two (2) letters of recommendation written within the last two (2) years.
DUTIES:
- Working with all ages (Pediatrics to Geriatrics)
- Proactively collaborate and integrate with members of the team, other departments, and directorates to achieve optimal care for the patients in the HOME PORT model.
- Proactively prepare for visits by reviewing upcoming provider schedules to avoid unnecessary visits with their provider and ensuring TEAM workflow.
- Screen patients based on standard questionnaires per clinic protocol.
- Prepare patient electronic health record (EHR) and other appropriate forms prior to patient’s appointment (i.e., physical).
- Perform data entry for population health metrics and health promotion. It is expected
- Collaborate with staff and support activities to maintain a safe and orderly department environment.
- Perform administrative functions, to include scheduling appointments and preparing correspondence to patients, as assigned.
HOURS:
- Services shall be provided Sunday through Saturday between 0645 and 1900 – depending on clinic location.
- Services are required on Federal holidays at some clinics, there will be a rotation to ensure coverage.
