Job Summary:
The Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive primary and urgent care services to patients of all ages in an ambulatory clinic setting. This role is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic health conditions in accordance with federal regulations, the California Nurse Practice Act, and California Board of Registered Nursing standards. The FNP functions independently within their scope of practice while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Perform age-appropriate health histories and physical examinations for pediatric and adult patients.
- Interpret patient histories, physical findings, and diagnostic test results to develop accurate diagnoses.
- Order and interpret laboratory and radiology studies as clinically indicated.
- Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments using approved medication formularies.
- Monitor treatment effectiveness and adjust care plans as needed.
- Provide preventive care, health promotion, and disease management services.
- Refer patients for specialty care or services not available within the clinic when appropriate.
- Document all patient encounters, procedures, and care plans accurately and timely in the medical record.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, pharmacy, laboratory, behavioral health, dental, and clerical teams.
- Participate in staff meetings, peer review activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain efficient patient flow and adhere to clinic visit time standards.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- California Nurse Practitioner License
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number
- National Nurse Practitioner Board Certification
- Current and unrestricted California Registered Nurse License
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited School of Nursing
- Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program
- Minimum of two years of ambulatory care experience preferred
- Willingness to travel between clinic locations
Certifications:
- Current BLS (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (may be obtained prior to orientation)
- Valid California Driver’s License with a safe driving record; must be insurable
- DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate
Schedule:
- Full-time, exempt position (minimum 40 hours per week)
- Evening and weekend availability required as needed
