Whittney LaCroix, RN, BSN

President

Whittney LaCroix (Sicangu Lakota) is a patient-focused visionary and trailblazer in Indigenous healthcare. Currently serving as President and Chief Nursing Officer at Tribal Health, LaCroix leads nursing operations in addition to providing direct supervision and oversight to emergency department practice management sites. She has over 10 + years serving the Rosebud Indian Reservation in various capacities. Lacroix has served as the Supervisor of the Inpatient Unit, Labor and Delivery unit, Surgical Services Supervisor, and Chief Nursing officer.

Most recent to her current position LaCroix served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Rosebud Indian Health Service (IHS) Unit and Director of Nursing of the White River Health Care Center, where she led efforts that earned a 5-star quality rating by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and a zero-deficiency survey from the South Dakota Department of Health. During her time as CNO in Rosebud the Hospital obtained Joint Commission Accreditation for the first time in over two decades.   

Recognized for her clinical versatility, dedication, and groundbreaking leadership, she has developed clinical programs for Native American communities across a variety of disciplines, including emergency medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, elder care, and long-term care. In 2022, Whittney was named to Staffing Industry Analysts’ Global Power 150 Women in Staffing.

Whittney holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Dakota.
