Job Summary:
The NICU Manager oversees daily operations of the unit, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered neonatal care. This leadership role is responsible for staffing, clinical quality, patient safety, and staff development while promoting evidence-based practices and achieving optimal patient outcomes. The Manager plays a key role in fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence in patient experience.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations and staffing of the NICU
- Ensure high-quality, patient-centered neonatal care and adherence to standards
- Monitor and evaluate clinical performance, outcomes, and quality metrics
- Promote evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and care delivery
- Manage admissions, discharges, and patient throughput efficiently
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration across departments
- Assign staff based on clinical competencies and patient care needs
- Drive patient satisfaction initiatives and service excellence
- Analyze feedback and implement strategies to improve patient experience
- Support benchmark achievement, accreditations, and regulatory compliance
- Maintain proper equipment management and regulatory adherence
- Identify staff development needs and lead training initiatives
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and teamwork
Requirements:
- BSN required
- 3–5+ years of healthcare experience required
- Minimum 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in acute care
- NICU experience required; will consider strong Charge RN or CNC NICU candidates
- Active RN license (Texas or compact); Texas RN required within specified timeframe
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred
- Specialty certification required within 6 months of hire
- NRP preferred
- Additional preferred certifications: FHM, RNC-OB (if applicable)
Schedule:
- Full-time
- Evening shift: typically 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Option for 5x8s or potential 4x10s (flexibility available)
